Known as “Bones” for his crushing blocking ability, Hamilton was a first team All-American in 1934 and helped lead Stanford’s legendary “Vow Boys” to three straight Rose Bowl appearances and a 25-4-2 record. His teams lived up to their “vow” to never lose to USC, defeating the Trojans on three straight occasions. In addition to his talents as a runner, Hamilton was known as a devastating blocker and also excelled as a receiver, defender and kick returner. Elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972, Hamilton is one of five members of the “Vow Boys” to earn that honor.
