Widely considered one of the best left-handed tennis players in Stanford history, John Doeg was only on the Farm for one year. Despite falling short of a national title, Doeg went undefeated in both singles and doubles in 1929, winning the Pacific Coast singles Championship. He quickly made a name for himself at the professional level, winning the U.S. Open Doubles title the very same year. He would soon repeat the accomplishment, taking both the singles and doubles titles at the 1930 U.S. Open. Doeg was later inducted into the Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame in the early 1990s. | |||||||||
