Cardinal oarsman Kent Mitchell is among the select group of two-time Olympic medalists that have represented Stanford at the Games. At the 1960 Rome Games, Mitchell won his first Olympic medal, a bronze, as part of the men’s pair with coxswain alongside Conn Findlay and Dick Draeger. Four years later, in Tokyo, Mitchell, rowing in the same boat with Findlay and Ed Ferry, would capture the gold in his second attempt. Mitchell would also go on to be enshrined in the National Rowing Hall of Fame.
