Considered Stanford’s first major recruit at the start of the Dick Gould coaching era, Roscoe Tanner would go on to be a three-time first-team All-American and win the 1972 NCAA doubles title. Tanner made two appearances in the NCAA singles final as well, and helped propel the Cardinal to a second-place national finish in his junior season, his last on the Farm. His storied professional career only included one Grand Slam Title – the 1977 Australian Open – but Tanner climbed as high as No. 4 in the world in singles while reaching four Grand Slam finals and playing for four Davis Cup teams. | |||||||||||
