Stanford University Athletics Sports Performance Internship Program

Position Announcement - Intern Sports Performance Coach

Stanford University is accepting applications for volunteer intern coaches to contribute to the Sports Performance Program. Qualified candidates will serve all 36 sports including Football, and will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This is a unpaid opportunity that provides experience assisting the staff implement individualized, comprehensive, sport-specific injury prevention and performance enhancement programs.

Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character, and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study in addition to current CPR/AED certification. This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, January 5th 2015, and requires a 6-month time commitment. During this evaluation, interns will have the opportunity to compete and earn a Part-time assistant or Graduate assistant position on the Sports Performance staff.

Internship Terms
Fall, Spring, Summer (Internship dates coincide with most semester long programs.)

Internship Description
Internship responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Sports Performance staff with the implementation of strength and conditioning, speed, agility, flexibility, mobility and nutritional programs. Additional duties include the monitoring of the Sports Performance facility and to aid the Sport Performance staff in various aspects of coaching, testing and evaluation.

Qualifications

  • A strong desire to pursue a career in the field of sports performance.
  • Applicants are preferred to be working towards completion of a degree and require an internship to fulfill graduation requirements.
  • Competent in coursework relating to the field of sports performance.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Outgoing and professional.
  • Must possess a desire to learn.

Compensation
This is an unpaid internship.

Duration
Interns are expected to stay for the entire duration of the internships unless other arrangements have been made.
