Cheri D. Mah, M.S.

Center for Excellence in the field of sleep medicine

Cheri is a researcher at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Clinic and Research Laboratory. Her research focuses on the relationship between sleep and performance, with a specific emphasis on the impact of sleep extension on athletic performance, mood, and recovery. Cheri has been conducting these studies as well as other investigations on sleep deprivation and sleep disorders with the world's leading expert in sleep medicine, William C. Dement, M.D., Ph.D., for the past 8 years. Her other endeavors include various teaching and community outreach projects on the dangers of sleep deficits and the benefits of optimal sleep. Since joining Stanford in 2002, Cheri has worked with elite athletes across various sports teams as well as Olympians and professional sports teams. Her research and work has been featured in the NY Times, National Geographic Adventure, US News & World Report, and the LA Times.

Cheri pursued her graduate training at Stanford and received her Masters of Science in Biological Sciences. She has a dual degree of Bachelor of Arts and Science with distinction in Biological Sciences and Psychology, graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University.
